Make complex work buyable without anyone signing a blank cheque
Complex engagements go wrong in a predictable way. The problem is not fully understood when the contract is signed, so the scope is written loosely; the loose scope is then filled by whoever is available; and by the time anyone can tell whether it is working, a great deal has been spent establishing what should have been settled at the start.
Our answer is unglamorous. Scope the problem before anyone commits to solving it. Write down what is included, what is not, what we need from you, and how long it takes. Name the people who will do the work. Where the work is regulated, put a licensed professional on the record and let them — not us — quote the fee.
None of that is novel. What is unusual is that the practice sits beside a community which keeps a record of who has actually delivered what — so when a practitioner has agreed to commercial work, naming the right one is a matter of looking rather than of asking around.
How we work
Discovery, at no charge
A conversation to find the shape of the problem and decide whether we are the right people. If we are not, we say so. An engagement that should not have started is more expensive for both sides than an honest hour.
A written scope before commitment
Every service on this site publishes its scope, deliverables, duration, required inputs and exclusions. The exclusions matter most — what is not included is where expectations diverge, and it is the section most proposals leave out.
Pricing that is a record, not a negotiation
Approved services show a starting price taken from the catalogue record rather than typed into a page. Services still in approval say “by proposal” instead of a number somebody guessed. Regulated categories show no price at all.
Named delivery
Work is delivered by identified practitioners drawn from the NODA Delivery Network, whose delivery counts come from settled records rather than self-description, with self-dealing excluded.
Boundaries that are structural
The rules above are enforced where they cannot be forgotten — in the database, as constraints — rather than in a template somebody might edit. A regulated service carrying a price cannot be stored at all.
Who you are contracting with
IOTA Field is the architecture — the shared framework connecting the commercial, social, research, application, data and real-asset parts of the ecosystem. It is not a company and holds no contracts.
IOTA Sustainable Developers Canada is the for-profit entity: professional services, commercial contracts, technology development, revenue projects, project companies, investment, real-world assets. An engagement bought through this site is an engagement with this entity.
NODA Social Impact Foundation is the non-profit entity — community, membership, volunteering, events, education, grants and impact measurement. The two entities are not subsidiaries of one another; both sit inside the IOTA Field architecture, side by side.
